Fear The Cure

The purpose of a TV drama is to affect the audience in a series of different ways, primarily to cause emotions in them such as fear, sympathy and anger. They can also be scripted in a way to cause comedy as well as relate to real life as well as fictional issues

Our original proposal was that it would be a parody of normal zombie dramas with a family of zombies sat around a table eating a meal, whereas they are then attacked by a group of humans attacking the building, then time passes and a teenage wakes up in a box, the parents lying dead in the floor with blood surrounding them. The younger sibling would be missing followed by the older looking over a series of family photographs covered in blood. She then goes out and whilst exploring the surrounding area finds a young human girl hiding, who then allies with, dispute the slaughter of her family. They then start searching for the younger sibling, whilst hiding from a series of human and zombie rebellions they meet another zombie, willing to join the cause to find the younger. The drama ends with the three amigos being chased down a field by the rebellions.

However due to a series of issues whilst trying to film the first scene we needed to change out idea to something more simpler as with busy lives the 4 of us were unable to film at the same times. Therefore we change it and created a TV Drama called Fear The Cure. This is a drama created where there is a zombie called Casimir trying to fit into everyday life however he is unable to and is constantly being bullied and picked on by everyone including the teachers.
This all happens until he meets another zombie 'Samantha' hiding from the others, the clip ends with Casimir meeting Samantha and them 'talking', leaving the audience in the suspense of what will happen next.

Our main actor of Casimir was Pete Evans Pritchard, this was because his character profile  was perfect, also alongside Sophie Fielder playing the supporting actress of Samantha both having previous acting experience they were perfect for the roles of these two characters.
For the other actors and actresses it was merely a case of finding out who was free when we needed to film.

Our drama was filmed over the course of our 2 hour lesson on the Friday, by recording the inside section in the first hour and moving on to the outside part in the second lesson.
This allowed us time to focus on each of the significant sections without needing to rush it.
Beth was the main camera person and by following Pete around with the camera attached to the tripod as well as our make up artist, by transforming both Pete and Sophie from people into zombies.
Meanwhile Sophie was being the actress for Samantha.
The rest of it was down to me and Sarah-Beth who between us recruited all the cast that we needed to play parts in it being extras, as well as directing these extras as well as the main cast as to where they needed to be and what they needed to do.
As we had a shortage of extras at different points in the drama everyone who was part of the group needed to play someone, usually bullying the zombie.

The main weakness to our group was to begin with where we had a significantly difficult idea, this meant that there was a lot of stress going on as half the group wanted to keep the idea the same whereas the other half wanted to change it. This meant that the group was arguing a great deal at the beginning, however we managed to work out the differences and came up with the compromise.
Another weakness was the time management we had, especially for the first idea, as with most of us working we needed to fit it around us as well as when all the different actors were free as well.

The main strength in our drama was our second idea, as we made it much simpler we were able to make the quality of the drama much higher, this was our main strength as I feel that had we stuck with the original idea we would not have been able to get the grade that I am aiming for.
With it being a strong and creative idea we were able to carry it out effectively.

Our other main strength was that we were able to find two people perfectly suited to the two main roles for Samantha and Casimir. However despite not having enough extras for what we wanted due to the directing skills we had enough to actually make do with what we had. One of my favourite sections once the editing was completed was the contrast of the inside scene and the outside scene, with the contrast of the brightness, I did this because to represent and foreshadow Casimir's journey, from at the beginning where he was bullied and abused to seeing the light just before he meets Samantha.

If I were to do this again I would make sure that the idea was not too complex in the first place and it was actually do able, whilst also making sure that we had clear plan of what we wanted to do and when by.
